In one of our June blog posts we told you all about how the powerful 2013 Range Rover Sport set the new world record by getting the fastest time of any production vehicle during the Pikes Peak Challenge. Today, we are here to tell you about the Range Rover Sport again, but this time it is about the next-generation model which is due to be available in the U.S. this coming Fall.

After winning the Pikes Peak Challenge, we suspected that Land Rover would take some time to rest on its laurels, but that is certainly not the case. The 2014 Range Rover Sport is coming full force, and it sounds like our favorite British SUV maker is taking a great vehicle and making it even better.

The first thing to know about the next-gen Range Rover Sport is that designers and engineers were able to shave off an astounding 800 pounds from the previous model thanks to a new lightweight aluminum frame. This should help to increase fuel efficiency as well as improve overall performance.

Drivers who elect to purchase one of these great models will have a choice of two different engines depending on their power preferences. The 2014 Range Rover Sport comes standard with a 3.0-liter V6 engine that has the ability to crank out 340 horsepower. For those who want a few extra ponies under the hood, there is the option to upgrade to a supercharged V8 engine which can push out 510 horsepower.

Naturally, this luxury SUV will come with all the bells and whistles that we have come to expect in every new Land Rover vehicle. This new version of the Range Rover Sport will also be able to seat 7 on premium leather seats.

We will be following this story very closely on the run-up to the new Range Rover Sport's release. Stay up to date with this story by following our blog, or by visiting the Land Rover Richmond showroom. We are located at 11670 Midlothian Turnpike, VA 23113. Hope to see you soon.
