We would we would be lying if we said that we haven't been waiting for this day for a very long time. A recent announcement from our favorite British automaker has us waiting in eager anticipation of a new Range Rover model with a hybrid drivetrain that will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this year.
At the Geneva Motor Show that took place a couple of months ago, Land Rover took the time to debut the Range_E concept and show off the technology that is now going to go into full-scale production. There is no word yet as to what the new hybrid Range Rover will be named, or when it will be released, but a Chief Program Engineer for Range Rover told an Australian news group that the vehicle will be in showrooms before the end of the year.
Some details have already been released about what we will find under the hood of this big, mean, green machine and our mouths are watering to say the least.
The new Range Rover hybrid will be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine and an integrated electric motor that is powered by a 1.7-kWh battery pack. The two drive components are strapped to a ZF eight-speed transmission. All together, the underpinnings should allow this beast to run with 333 horsepower and a sprint from zero to 60 in under seven seconds. Most impressively, the new hybrid is estimated to achieve 45 miles per gallon.
We can't wait for the release of this new model, and you can be sure we will update you with all the details when we get them here on our blog.
