When we last talked about the three Range Rover Diesel Hybrids making their way from the UK to India here on the Land Rover Richmond blog they were only halfway there.  One month later we can now report that the mission was accomplished, all three vehicles made it to Mumbai.

For 53 days the three Range Rover Diesel hybrids battled temperatures as cold as -10 degrees and as hot as 43 degrees Celsius, climbing mountains at 17,648 feet and barreling down valleys as low as 11,000 feet.

A total of 10,472 miles were driven from Solihull, UK to Mumbai, India, with many of the roads being seemingly impassable.  We would expect that almost any other vehicle would not be able to make this journey, and the fact that these hybrid SUV's achieved 36 to 37 UK miles per gallon is astonishing.

These Range Rover hybrid SUV's were truly some rugged international travelers, leaving their footprint in two continents and thirteen countries, while not leaving an unnecessary carbon footprint.

The Range Rover Diesel Hybrid is not yet in mass production, but we expect that with their success along the ancient Silk Trail we will see them soon.  Powered by a 3.0-liter TDV6 engine and a 35 kW electric motor the Land Rovers did not compromise their toughness while accomplishing excellent fuel efficiency numbers.

We look forward to seeing these lean mean green machines enter our inventory of new Land Rover SUV's down the road.  To check out what we currently have come by our dealership serving the Midlothian, Virginia region today and talk with one of our trained professionals.
